Monster High dolls are BALL JOINTED. Just because -you- don’t think it fits in a tag, doesn’t mean shit.
I hate to be a bother, but this has been a point of contention to me. Monster High Dolls are really cool (I own about a million of them myself) and very versatile for modding, painting, etc.,… but they are NOT ball jointed!
A ball and socket joint is where a round object fits into a kind of “cup”, and the motion is achieved by the ball rolling in the cup. Like bjd knees and elbows (on most sculpts) or the neck in the bottom of the head.
Monster High joints are actually hinge/revolute joints. There’s a peg at each end and a hinge in the middle, so even though it’s round, the joint is NOT a ball joint. The motion is achieved by the hinge “opening” and “closing” as you bend it forward or back. Yes, they can move in circles, but that’s because the pegs can spin in their holes.
Honestly I don’t care what tag you put them in (the BJD and MH hobbies cross over a lot), but it bothers me to see them called something they are not.
I know, I’m nitpicking, but this is basic machinery.
I also don’t really get it why so many people with other dolls want to force them into the BJD Tag/group?
Do you have a problem with your doll being what it is?
Namely a MH, Blythe, Azone or whatever?
You don’t see BJD collectors stomping into a Barbie forum whining “I WANT MY BJD TO BE INCLUDED HERE TOO”.
I always get the feeling you guys feel inferior with your dolls even though that’s total bullshit.
I have many different kind of dolls and I take them as they are:
My BJDs are BJDs, my Blythe are Blythe, my Azones are Azones etc., there are enough places for every kind of doll to talk about them, share them and so on.
Why do you feel the need to be included in a group that has nothing to do with what you collect?
Accept that you collect a MH and like them for what they are.
If you don’t collect a BJD/don’t have the money for one/no real interest in them then accept that and stick with your dolls in your places.
There is no need to force your doll into a group it doesn’t belong to, because it has its very own group!
